Campaign link (UTM) builder

Build trackable links for your ads, emails and influencers. Without them all that traffic lands in “Direct” and you no longer know what sells.

Quick start

Pick a channel: source and medium get filled in correctly the first time.

The page the visitor should land on.
The name of the operation: winter-sale, product-launch…
Where the click comes from: facebook, google, newsletter, influencer name…
The type of traffic: cpc, email, social, affiliate…
To tell two creatives or two buttons apart. Optional.
The keyword you bought, in paid search. Optional.

Your trackable link

Parameters are lowercased and spaces replaced with hyphens: Google Analytics treats “Facebook” and “facebook” as two different sources, and that is exactly how reports become unreadable.

Frequently asked questions

Should I put UTMs on links inside my own store?

No, never on internal links: it resets the session counter and breaks your attribution stats. UTMs are only for traffic coming from outside.

Do UTMs hurt SEO?

They create URL variants, which is exactly why the canonical tag matters. With a correct canonical there is no problem — and Shopify handles it by default.

What naming convention should I use?

The simplest one, and above all the same one everywhere: all lowercase, hyphens instead of spaces, and a fixed vocabulary for medium (cpc, email, social, affiliate). Consistency is what makes reports readable, not clever naming.

Know what sells, then showcase what sells

Once your channels are measured, you still have to convert. That is exactly what Story Theme is built for.
